I have been diligently checking through my analytics to find out what people that are landing on my blog are searching for. Examples of memoir writing is near the top but another item bringing people how to write a story from your life.
I have written a lot about story elements, what makes a tradition story and how to make it interesting. I thought I would round up the links to these articles in one spot to help anyone searching for these items.
Getting started seems to be the hardest part. Not knowing where to start, how to start or just being intimidated by that black page or screen. My best advice is just to write as it comes to you. It doesn’t have to be chronological, but it can be. Organizing and editing can come after you get that story down on the page. Don’t let the thoughts of having to be perfect on your first draft stop you from writing at all. That’s a mistake.
Some prefer to outline prior to writing. Keeps them on track. That’s fine. Others would rather write and then organize later. That’s fine too. You choose which way you are most comfortable and go with it — just do it!
